If you run a business from your home and it doesn't disturb your neighbors, your city can no longer create special rules to shut you down or require extra permits. This protects home-based entrepreneurs from overly restrictive local ordinances.

Many Black entrepreneurs in DFW operate home-based businesses — from consulting and coaching to food prep and childcare. This law removes a significant barrier by preventing cities like Dallas and Fort Worth from imposing restrictive zoning or permit requirements on low-impact home businesses.
